      This diatonic 10-holes harmonica is one of the great classic models. It has been Hohner’s workhorse for over 40 years!

      The Hohner Special 20 features the progressive technology, that allows you to develop your own style of playing and become one of the best harmonica players! Because of its ease of play and its extremely accurate brass reeds, this harmonica is suited for all kind of players, from beginner to professional.

      The covers of the Hohner Special 20 are made of stainless steel, and feature closed sides. This allow them to be exceptionally airtight.

      Made of molded injection plastic, the comb has a mouthpiece especially designed to enhance playing comfort. Its material also allows it not to absorb moisture, in order to extend the harmonica’s durability.

      The Hohner Special 20’s melody is very distinctive and recognizable, and has shaped the sound of music from folk to pop for over 40 years.

I\'m a self-taught, 76 year old General Contractor, who plays in my pickup, and on the beach with my Honey. Not a musical person; but can play many dozens of songs by ear. Only been playing like 7 or 8 years. Hope to give a couple harmonicas to some of my crew guys. I memorize songs and play to fight Alzheimer\'s -- Dad and 4 siblings succumbed to it!       I don't have much to say about this harp. Incredible sound, very responsive and a really nice price! My first choice is the Crossover but I lover the Special 20. You can't go wrong with this harp!

      I normally play the Hohner Blues Harp or Marine Band harmonicas but had heard a lot of players like the Special 20 so thought I'd give it a try out. It's a Hohner so that's a plus and it plays well. Meaning, it you're new to harmonica the special 20 won't require a lot of practiced technique to get a pretty good sound right out of the gate. I did find it has a little less volume and fullness that the 1896 but all said it is good harp. Back in the day we used to dunk our harps in water to get a more raw, coarse sound but it can take a toll on a pear wood harp but I'm told with the all synthetic comb on the 20 that's not as big an issue.

      From the moment I blew on it from a few inches away to warm it up the first time, I've been impressed with the sound. It's easy to make those reeds sing. I'm a beginner, so I can't adequately compare it to any other models. I can say this one does not have a cheap feel to it. I like the sound too.

      i have not bought a special 20 in maybe 25 years now. They seem to have notes now that you have to blow on at the right angle or you get not much or no sound I though the reeds where blow on a couple notes

      I am a beginner. I spent some time on a cheap harmonica that came with a "learn to play book". Felt like I was getting the hang of it and upgraded to the Special 20. It seems that the reeds on holes 7,8, and 9 stick at times. The sound is either weak or sometimes nothing at all. When it happens it frustrates me because I don't know for sure if it's me or the harmonica. When this isn't happening though I love it. If you have any suggestions I would appreciate the help.
